Expressions of interest, in the RVA Business Excellence Awards, have climbed to more than 65 in recent weeks indicating strong interest in the inaugural event.
 However, due to a number of requests to provide more time to prepare applications, as applicants focus on navigating their way through the financial crisis, the RVA Board of Management has decided to postpone the awards until 26 March 2010.
RVA President Simon Owen said the RVA Board took the decision to postpone the awards out of respect for members and partners some of whom are prioritising their resources in responses to the crisis in 2009.
"We have received very strong interest in the Awards with more than 65 expressions of interest from members so we understand that there will be some disappointment, however, I am emphasising that the awards will go ahead," Mr Owen said.
The awards provide a substantial number of benefits and are a valuable resource of evidence and endorsement that can be used in promotional material and correspondence, creating opportunities for publicity, positive business profiling and recognition within the industry.
Submissions for awards will continue to be accepted with a new deadline for submissions extending to November 2009.
The awards will be held in Melbourne, Victoria on Friday 26 March 2010.
